KATON®1000 SERIES O-RINGS - FKM TYPE-1:

Operating Temperature Range: -5°C to 200°C

Chemical Resistance:
Fluorocarbon FKM high-pressure O-rings offer excellent resistance to chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, low compression set, low permeability, and exceptional aging characteristics. They perform well against ozone, high temperatures, oxygen, mineral oils, synthetic hydraulic fluids, fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many organic solvents and chemicals.

The KATON® FKM TYPE-1 Series O-Rings are made from one of the most versatile fluororubber compounds, containing 66% fluorine. This is a binary copolymer based on a bisphenol vulcanization system, classified under ASTM D1418. When compared to standard NBR and KATON® HNBR Series O-Rings, the KATON® FKM TYPE-1 Series O-Rings maintain superior sealing force under high temperatures. They have up to 30 times the lifespan compared to conventional elastomers like FVMQ fluorosilicone rubber, VMQ silicone rubber, and HNBR hydrogenated nitrile rubber, offering a high cost-performance ratio.

Explosive Decompression:
When exposed to high-pressure gas for prolonged periods, gas permeates into the seal material. Upon pressure reduction, the dissolved gas exits the material, forming microbubbles. As the gas expands, it can escape from the material, but if depressurization occurs too rapidly, trapped gas can cause cracks and seal failure.

KATON®1000 SERIES O-RINGS

  • KATON®1000 SERIES/FKM-Type 1 O-Ring
The KATON®/Fluorocarbon rubber FKM-Type 1 O-ring is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene, containing 66% fluorine. Its two major characteristics are exceptional resistance to chemical agents and a competitive price. It is resistant to most oils and solvents, with the exception of ketones and esters.
